Miss Finney: How keeping a routine can help

Whilst it would be really easy for us all to stay in bed all day, not get dressed or shower it doesn't help in the long run. Miss Finney has found keeping herself in a good routine has really improved her mental wellbeing.

'I have to admit I was nervous when I found out we'd being going into isolation and not at work. My boyfriend is still working so knew I'd be on my own a lot of the time. This is what's helped me:

1. Getting up at a good time - between 8 and 9 am.
2. Eating breakfast as normal.
3. Exercising - I bought myself an exercise bike and I love it! I'm now also trying to beat my own personal best each day.
4. Showering and getting dressed! Whilst I love my pyjamas more than anything it's good for me to get changed into fresh clothes. I put my favourite joggers on and a comfy t-shirt.
5. I've been doing a lot of DIY and painting my house. I've really enjoyed working on the house and the feeling of achievement when I've finished.

6. Having a proper meal structure! Again it would be really easy to eat rubbish all day but I've made sure I've had 3 good meals a day.

7. Disney+ - Disney will always improve my mood no matter what! So this new streaming service came at the perfect time. So far I've rewatched the Avengers movies, Guardians of the Galaxy and the new Mandalorian series. I've also restarted Gossip Girl and Gavin and Stacey - both amazing shows!

8. Facetime, group chats and snap chats. I don't think I've ever felt as popular as I do at the minute. I'm suddenly in lots of group chats, facetiming my mum everyday, facetiming friends and checking in on them and serenading people on snapchat (no i'm not posting that online). It really helps keep that normality. This week myself and Miss Cooper have worked together using the meet feature on Microsoft teams. It's been just like being in the office, whilst we've mostly been chatting away there were odd moments of 5 minutes or so where we didn't actually say anything, but were both just working.

9. Keeping on top of household chores and being tidy - you know what they say, tidy house tidy mind!

10. Go to bed at a good time and get a good nights sleep!

These might seem like obvious tips but they have really helped me this week. We would love to hear any other tips people have that have helped them.'

Stay safe! Miss Finney :)
